YOUTH CLASSES

Tot Shots I (Firearm Safety Course – Level 1) – 90 Minutes $60

(Maximum 6 Participants)

Due to the significant volume of member requests, NorthShore Sports – Crystal Lake has developed this fun and practical two-hour, .22 cal. rifle safety seminar for children between the ages of 7 and 12. We understand that many young children are avid shooters. NorthShore Sports – Crystal Lake, as a family-oriented range, is offering this class as an opportunity for families to enjoy shooting together at our facility. This seminar includes classroom instruction followed by range time. Our instructors are men and women with plenty of experience training young children in the fundamentals of safe marksmanship. Students will receive an official “Tot Shots” safety card that grants access to shooting at NorthShore Sports – Crystal Lake range with appropriate parental supervision.

Class Requirements:

  • Open to children between the ages of 7 and 12.
  • Each child must be accompanied by one parent or legal guardian.
  • Siblings can share a lane with one parent or guardian.
  • Rifles are available at no additional charge but we encourage bringing your own rifle.
  • .22LR ammunition is provided
  • Eye and ear protection is provided by NorthShore Sports – Crystal Lake or bring your own.
  • Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class.
  • Bring a readiness to learn and a great attitude!

A FOID card is not required for this class.

Tot Shots II (Firearm Safety Course – Level 2) – 90 Minutes $75

(Minimum 3 Participants to Maximum 6 Participants)

By popular demand and Member requests, NorthShore Sports – Crystal Lake has brought you another fun filled class for children ages 7-12. From original “Tot Shots” now comes “Tot Shots II,” an opportunity for your children to experience shooting from different positions including standing, kneeling, sitting, and prone on our colorful padded mats in their own enclosed target area. Colorful targets as well as soda cans and colorful plastic pop bottles (purchased separately) are available for the class. This class provides an opportunity for families to enjoy shooting together with their children in a safe, clean environment. After a safety review in the classroom, the young shooters will head to the range.

  • Open to young shooters ages 7 to 12.

Teen Rifle: Introduction to Marksmanship Skills – 3 Hours $125

(Minimum 3 Participants to Maximum 6 Participants)

This is an excellent introductory course for the teenager interested in the shooting sports. Tailor-made for young adult shooters ages 13-18, this introductory class will cover nomenclature, safe handling, and provide a foundation in proper marksmanship related to rifle shooting. After a thorough discussion of safety and fundamentals, participants will hit the range and sample a variety of long guns.

Completing a CHILDCARE AUTHORIZATION WAIVER (prior to class start) allows you to drop off your teenager for the class. The option to stay with your child is always available.

Class Requirements:

  • You must be between 13 and 18 years of age and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian or have a properly executed “Childcare Authorization Waiver”
  • Rifles, ammunition and eye and ear protection will be provided by NorthShore Sports – Crystal Lake.
  • Parents can bring their own rifle or carbine for their teen to shoot.
  • Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class.
  • Bring a great learning attitude!

A FOID card is not necessary for out of state residents.
