HANDGUN CLASSES
Gals and Guns (Beginner Handgun Training for Women – Level 1) – 4 Hours $125
(Maximum 10 participants)
Ladies – this class is designed with you in mind. Even with little or no experience you will get firearm training in a professional, yet non-aggressive environment. The goal of this informative class is to practice gun safety techniques, discuss the differences between handguns, understand firearm nomenclature and employ correct shooting fundamentals. The first portion of this class will be dedicated to classroom instruction during which participants are encouraged to ask all the handgun related questions they like. Following the classroom instruction, participants will have the opportunity to shoot a semi-automatic handgun. Overall, this class provides a great foundation of knowledge for the beginning woman shooter.
Course Requirements:
- You must be at least 21 years of age
- Handguns, ammunition and eye and ear protection will be provided by NorthShore Sports – Crystal Lake
- Personal firearms are allowed but provision of ammunition is based upon availability
- Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class
- Bring a readiness to learn and a great attitude!
A FOID card is not necessary for introductory courses or out-of-state residents.
Guys and Guns (Beginner Handgun Training for Men – Level 1) – 4 Hours $125
(Maximum 10 participants)
This is the all-inclusive, introductory handgun class for men who are seeking basic handgun training from professional firearm trainers. The goal of the class is to practice safety techniques, discuss the differences of various handguns, understand firearm nomenclature and employ correct shooting fundamentals. Questions are highly encouraged and participants will have the opportunity to shoot a semi-automatic handgun. This class serves as a great learning foundation for subsequent advanced-level classes as well.
Course Requirements:
- You must be at least 21 years of age
- Handguns, ammunition and eye and ear protection will be provided by NorthShore Sports – Crystal Lake
- Personal firearms are allowed but provision of ammunition is based upon availability
- Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class
- Bring a readiness to learn and a great attitude!

Gun Couples (Beginner Handgun Training for Couples – Level 1) – 4 Hours $225 per couple
(Maximum 6 Couples)
The ideal class for couples who are beginning handgun enthusiasts and who seek firearm training in a professional learning environment. Gun Couples provides a great place for couples to learn about handguns while developing a new hobby to share. The goal of this informative class is to practice gun safety techniques, discuss the differences between handguns, understand firearm nomenclature and employ correct shooting fundamentals. The first portion of this class will be dedicated to classroom instruction during which participants are encouraged to ask all the handgun related questions they like. Following the classroom instruction, participants will have the opportunity to shoot a semi-automatic handgun. Overall, this class provides a great foundation of knowledge for the beginning shooter to build upon. All “couples” are welcome including a parent with adult child.

Intermediate Handgun (Intermediate Handgun Training Co-ed – Level 2) – 2 Hours $100
(Maximum 6 Participants)
Handgun graduates, now that you have a basic understanding of firearm fundamentals, this class serves as the perfect opportunity to hone your marksmanship skills and become more confident with the handling of your firearm. Learn new techniques and principles to further enhance your shooting skills. Develop shooting fundamentals such as stance, grip, sight alignment, breath control, trigger control and follow-through.
Class Requirements:
- You must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid FOID card.
- You must have completed a Beginner Level Handgun course.
- Bring your own handgun or rent one from our pro shop
- Bring 200 rounds of ammunition specific for your firearm or purchase in our pro shop
- Bring eye and ear protection
- Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class
- Bring the same great attitude you brought to the first class!
Advanced Handgun Skills (Advanced Handgun – Level 3) – 2 Hours $100
(Maximum 6 Participants)
Bring your shooting skills to a new level. Learn the techniques of drawing from the holster, speed reloads and quick target engagement. You will be challenged with a variety of shooting scenarios encompassing the above skills. Further, you will add to your shooting experience by learning such advanced shooting techniques as engaging targets at various distances, practicing different shooting positions, and shooting from behind cover.
Class Requirements:
- You must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid FOID card.
- You must have completed an Intermediate Level handgun course.
- Semi-automatic pistol with three magazines or revolver with speed loader
- Hip holster with magazine pouch
- Bring 200 rounds of ammunition specific to your firearm
- Eye and ear protection
- Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class
- Durable strong side inside or outside the waistband holster
- Durable belt
Holster Drills 1 – 2 Hours – $100
(Maximum 6 Participants)
Learn the safe and proper techniques for carrying a concealed and holstered firearm – indispensable information for the new CCW licensee. Beginning with a discussion of holster types and uses, students will spend classroom time learning and perfecting the techniques specific to their handgun and holster combination. Following the classroom portion, participants will undergo live-fire, holster draw exercises on the range.
Class Requirements:
- You must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid FOID card.
- You must have completed basic firearms training at NorthShore Sports – Crystal Lake, or commensurate training, and hold a CCW certificate.
- Bring a personal handgun and appropriate holster (strong-side, inside or outside the waistband).
- Each student will need to bring 200 rounds of ammunition specific to your firearm
- Shirt or jacket that conceals holster
- Wear proper shooting attire (crew neck shirt and closed toe, high traction shoes) for range portion of class
- Eye and ear protection
- Durable belt
Holster Drills 2 – 2 Hours – $100
(Maximum 6 Participants)
Go down range while practicing safe techniques for drawing your firearm from the holster. Participants will engage multiple targets, getting off the “X”, and other live-fire drills while drawing from the holster.
